Tips for driving in the Veneto
Venice
You cannot drive into historic Venice: park at Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto or in Mestre and continue by vaporetto (water bus) or train.
Limited traffic zones (ZTL)
Many historic centres, such as Treviso, Padua and Verona, have camera-controlled ZTL zones: watch for the signs and do not enter without a permit, or you will be fined.
Motorways
Italian motorways (autostrade) are tolled: pay at the toll booth in cash or by card.
Fuel
Check the fuel policy in your contract: usually the car must be returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up.
What you need to hire a car
- A valid driving licence. Licences issued outside the European Union may also require an International Driving Permit.
- An identity card or passport.
- Usually a credit card in the main driver's name for the security deposit: the amount and method are shown in your quote.

Do you deliver the car at the airport?
Yes, on booking we deliver the car at Treviso Airport (TSF). Send us your flight number and we will agree the meeting point.
What if my flight is delayed?
Let us know as soon as you can by phone or WhatsApp. With your flight number we can rearrange the handover.
Can I return the car at the airport?
Yes, airport return is agreed when you book. Alternatively you can return it at our office in Zero Branco.
Is Treviso Airport the same as Venice Airport?
No. Treviso Airport (TSF), which some airlines call "Venice Treviso", is different from Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE). From Treviso you can drive to Venice in about 40 minutes.
Do I need a credit card?
Usually yes, for the security deposit. We tell you the amount and method in your quote.
Can I drive with a UK or non-EU licence?
Licences issued in the European Union are valid in Italy. With a licence issued outside the EU, including the UK, check the latest rules before travelling: you may also need an International Driving Permit. Write to us before booking.
